Welcome to DigMyWalker.com!

Medical necessities like walkers, wheelchairs, canes and crutches, almost always increase the user's functional capacity, but historically have not reflected personal taste, style or sense of individualism. It's time for a change; a shift in our collective mindset: medical necessities CAN and SHOULD BE lifestyle accessories!

This site is for YOU! You may be a child, a parent, a friend, or a more "seasoned" citizen. You may be visiting because you or someone close to you has personal mobility concerns. You may be here because you would like to change the face of the personal mobility industry (like me) by improving the appeal and design of what's currently available for those with mobility disabilities. Or, you may be an artist/designer interested in 3-D media or industrial design. For whatever reason, we are all here to improve the appeal of currently available mobility products, pave the way for new and more attractive assistive devices, and to erase much of the current stigma associated with mobility disabilities.

Please join me in creating an enjoyable community-based site where we all can share ideas, pictures, hopes and visions about medical mobility modification and more. Be sure to check out the community forum to see imagination at work!

I sincerely hope you dig the site and come back to visit often!

About the founder of Dig My Walker!

Sara Reha
Sarah Reha was born in the heartland of America. As a young girl, she liked to sing, occasionally pout, and dance around in leg warmers. She also liked to take notice of the vibrant colors that surrounded her. Those colors, like the bright red barns of local farms and the golden yellow of the yearly corn harvest, would make a great impact on Sarah later in life.

After graduating from the school of Social Work at the University of Iowa, Sarah continued her interest in education by working towards a master's degree in Gerontology at the University of LaVerne in California. It was there that she began to form her ideas on the aesthetics of assisted devices. Her biggest challenge has been how to change a mindset and industry that has an over 100-year headstart on her.

This is where you and this website come in. Please enjoy the values and ideas shared here at this site. Hopefully soon, the drab gray world of assisted devices will be far behind us.
